A puppy could turn a pair of Alden boots into an expensive chew toy.

Hello all! Got my first pair of Aldens today, a straight tip black cordovan with commando sole. It was a special makeup for the Canadian store Lost and Found.

I'd been looking for a 'minimalist' black boot and this one hit all the right notes for me.

Far too much goodness in this post to cite it all but deets on the denim would be appreciated.

Unobtainable goodness. Well done as always Mayor.

So good P-47. The outfit stands on its own but I always enjoy seeing your pooch in the pic's.

Alright guys, let's hope I got the right thread this time. Didn't take long to get my latest shoe addition on feet. I have slowly embraced dark denim but generally this is how I prefer to dress when not at work or at a higher-end restaurant. These shoes just work so perfectly for me.......

Can I ask which pair of the LHS do you get the most wear out of? I'm thinking between the two calf leather LHS.
Do they stretch just as much as the unlined LHS? Any recommendation which calf leather color is more versatile?

1,The most worn LHS is the burgundy calf pair (#984) as they fit me best, my first 2 pairs were actually color 8 shell (#986) but they never fit, had to sell both.

2, the calf one may have stretched a little but I can't really tell, it's more like that they conform to your feet after repeat wears (not happening in the lined cordovan pairs, obviously. a unlined version could be different, I hope).

3, I do think burgundy/wine color is most versatile, pairs well with dress trousers, chinos, jeans, you name it. another option is brown (on the darker side if you want to pair with dress trousers)

I don’t think calf stretches as much as some other choices — shell excepted, of course.

My most worn pair is probably my J Crew 986 variants. The most comfortable are the unlined CXL flex welt version, followed by the old BB unlined shell numbers.

It is indeed. Still not entirely sure about the makeup as the serial number doesn't match up with anything else, but I love them!

I don't know what you mean by "makeup" and, or, "serial number" ?
Anyway, in case you have not seen it, there is a thread here dedicated to the model 405 (and all other variations of the Indy boot):
