My father is much much older than you and a physician who grew up and spent his entire life in NYC but even he will not wear his tassel loafers (really his only style of dress shoes except 1 pair of black oxfords) with anything other than a suit or sportscoat and wool trousers (sometimes when in the hospital the sportscoat gets replaced with his white lab coat).

For @stook1, this is a really great casual loafer: "Rancourt Natural Shell Cordovan Beef Roll Loafers" posted by @mdubs some tome ago. This would be a killer casual loafer to wear with almost anything except a suit.

thanks @NYCTechNerd and @audog ... will have to consider it more. I have a pair of color 8 beef rolls already so was thinking in a light color spectrum. Maybe a suede LHS is the way to go.

Another fantastic casual shoe that can work with a wide spectrum of outfits; anything short of a business suit all the way to the other end of the spectrum short of a bathing suit. Literally, a medium brown (or snuff) suede loafer can work with shorts and golf shirt as well as sportscoat and wool trousers. One of the most versatile shoes in existence and a great compliment to your color 8 beefrolls.

Agree, that is a more "formal" loafer. Personally, I'd still wear them with jeans and Chinos

As would I. My objection is to "tassel" loafers with jeans and chinos.

I pretty much only wear them with jeans. Same with 987s.

Since jeans are a ubiquitous article of clothing, the shoes work just fine with them. Just my opinion. Hell, I have even worn my AE Park Aves with jeans.....

I would honestly love SO MUCH to be able to wear a snuff (or tan!) LHS, but I have never been able to nail down a size in the Van last. Never seems to quite work.
