But isn't that half the fun, uncovering the individual character of the actual leather? I'm sun-fading a pair of color 8 Indy's now, and if they turn out "weird" it's ok with me.
Yes, I totally agree - that's definitely part of the fun. But it's a worthwhile caveat for some guys that spent full boat for a shoe they are hoping to make more interesting, but could in fact make it unwearable. I'll post some pictures of my monk strap soon so you can see how things can take a turn for the worse. Where as my plain toe boots I could probably have charged a premium for them they looked so good, I don't think anyone would spend good money for these monk straps currently. But to your point, for me personally it's definitely okay - I'm looking forward to pushing the envelope even further with this pair.

That's a lovely shade of whiskey. Are those from their most recent run, or older?

Thank you very much! According to the stamp, the run ended in a 4... likely 2014?

I do have something else to share in the same vein, but won't get to it until next week.

Mind uploading a pic of the production codes inside the shoe?

Agree with your caveat! If one can't afford to gamble, don't enter the Casino, so to speak.

I bought these from Brogue Shop in Jan or Feb this year and have barely worn my shoes. Pretty disappointing quality.

I had a similar issue with a pair of Indys last year. Sent it back to Alden they fixed it up right away. Don't fret.

I must admit, on the whole, I have had better luck with Alden than the other American "A" company over the past couple of years. In fact, I've had great results with Alden, both new A stock, and TSM B stock.
