Oh wow maybe I'll try Modified - thanks Savvy!

You are welcome. It's all personal preference but modified is not often seen but it's a thing of beauty, I think.

Actually they are surprisingly easy to wear. I have worn them to Wal*Mart even. But I like saddle shoes, and wife didn't even know they "snuck" in to the closet....

Your closet is so big you could hide an ? inside.

Newest addition to the closet! Been hot and heavy after a black shell longwing but wanted to try something different. Big thanks to Moulded Shoe, NYC and Ronnie!

My first Modified last; they really are a thing of beauty. The flat, 270 welt is just fantastic. Side by side shots with your run of the mill 975. Also, check out the waist on the modified sole shot! @Joe Schmoe

Yo guys.. I've ordered a couple pair of corduroy trousers.. I want to have them cuffed.. I see the cuff size now days on suits and trousers and they look super big to me.. 5 inch looks like to me. Seems a little dramatic to me.. These will be casual.. any cuff size suggestions? Most of my wardrobe I believe is 2.5 inch to maybe 3. Thanks

Thank you very much Savvy. Wow, you were not kidding about the waist on the Modified last LWB -- that's incredible!

I purchased a pair of Alden longwings in Col. 8 Cordovan on Trunk's sale this summer. Cannot beat a 440€ pair in Europe where the going price is 880e normally! Never having tried Alden before, I was worried about the sizing, but the Barrie last in 10.5D fit me perfectly. I love how once I can wear shoes without using insoles to help my flatter feet! Plus, I love how the shoes look, so them being amazingly comfortable is a huge plus.

Now I am ready to bite the bullet on some more Alden pairs, even if they are expensive and hard to get here in Europe. Specifically, I would like to order a pair of chukka boots. I have tried the Leydon lasted unlined snuff suede chukkas before in store and the size 11E was a good fit. I like a suede chukka to be a year-round shoe, but I am worried about the unlined model's durability in snow and rain. I live in Southern Finland, and we have a great deal of slush, water and in the winter. It's basically half a year of autumn these days. My other option in the chukka department would be a lined chukka on the Barrie last from Frans Boone store: it is available in my size, but the leather is a smooth dark brown instead of suede. I know that it would fit me very well, being on the same last as my longwings, but I am not sure if I like the silhouette as much as the unlined chukkas'. The toe box seems slightly more bulbous and the sole is double leather instead of a single flexi sole – although I'd maybe consider that a plus for the wintertime.

Anyone have any takes here? I know that the Barrie lasted lined chukkas would perhaps be the sensible choice, but I'm just so drawn to the unlined ones... The price difference is quite small (lined ones are just under 600€, unlined ones are a hundred euros more).

How tall are you? I'm 5' 10" and do between 1.5 and 1.75. The taller you are the bigger the cuff you want. I'd think 2" max though...
