Hi all,

I purchased a pair of Barrie Chukkas over the summer and applied Tarrago Nano Protector immediately. I had a scare this past weekend taking them through the rain multiple times but they held up very well. How frequently do most of you reapply Nano Protector?

I just made a purchase of Chamois for the first time from AoC and I'm wondering if there are any recommendations/suggestions for initial treatment as I haven't been able to track any down.

Thanks!

Assuming your chukkas are suede, I only do it a couple times a year max - suede isn't really afraid of water.

Chamois requires no initial treatment at all - just wear and enojoy. I have a pair of smooth chamois LWB's and wound up exchanging messages with Nick Horween. His recommendation was to wait a really long time, and only then applying an extremely small amount of neatsfoot oil. He emphasized a minuscule amount. :) If it's the roughout, I'm not sure how you'd apply the neatsfoot (maybe a small mister?) but I got the feeling that no treatment wasn't necessarily a bad thing unless you'd really been beating on them for a long time...

The fade or filter on the photo, combined with the solid tie, OCBD and flannels of the guy sitting across from you made me think this was some old photo from the 1950s or 1960s about Ivy Prep style or something as I was initially scrolling through. It was only after I slowed down and saw what that guy was holding and what was in the background (and what type of store the photo was taken in) did I realize this was a contemporary photo and not some vintage candid shot.

Very good info thanks for that, I have a pair of the blue Alden Chamois. After dropping a piece of beef from Panda Express on them, I had a grease spot. I couldn’t find any info on cleaning them and finally just used suede cleaner. It left a lightened spot on them. I’ve notice now that the lightened spot has seemingly gone away. So, now I understand why, just leave them be eh? Very cool.

It’s a Verizon store. Other than the setting it does look retro.
