@audog

beautiful black shells!

Man, you got the Alden bug REALLY good !
Yes I did get infected. After years of AE, and always balking at Alden prices, I have found the darn things fit better than my AE's (not a lot but enough). I wish I had pulled the trigger years ago, but better late than never. I am transitioning my shoe wardrobe/collection to Alden while retaining some AE's that I truly love (HM, Caen, PA's and a few others). I do have a thing for boots, so that is my focus at the moment.

I wasn't particularly thrilled with the e-mail exchange that I had with Leffot about sizing, but nonetheless I might burn a day off on Thursday to head into Chicago for fitting and to see what's up for the trunk show. Strange how it wasn't mentioned to me, however, during our e-mail exchange since it was at that point less than a week away.

"Like root canals"??????? I understand the pain stopping and that is a good thing, but I have a morbid fear of dental procedures, due to having teeth pulled by a sadist when I was a kid.

I also had a bad dental experience as a kid when I lived back in Amarillo. The guy was supposed to be a child specialist. His office had things inside that made it look like a circus tent and the floor in the hallway had large, circular, tile mosaics of famous clowns. Bozo and others. Well his practice failed, but the floor survives to this day. They turned the office into a bar and its now called the Circus room to explain the clowns in the floor. @madhat can verify it still is there.

Hmm. Learn something every day! Not sure how I missed that place; I worked on a renovation project for the old hospital turned assisted living a few blocks down. From the pics it looks as though they put down red carpet. My office isn't too far away either.

Holy hell that would have been terrifying as a little kid.

Most don’t know using a waterpic post floss and brushing saves you big $ in the long run, it’s $40 and worthwhile. My 2 cents

Anyone know who is a running a Cigar Indy Boot waitlist? the recent change to TSM's rare shell policy virtually guarantees that those who are not D width will never get their size. Looking to get on a new list, and I guess start from scratch (was no 10 when TSM changed over). Already talked to Alden DC - no rare shell on Indy.

This is good news. You’ll be happy to know your size finally! I decided to vacation in the Bay to try on Aldens for the first time!

I'm looking forward to eradicating my confusion. I guess I shouldn't complain about an hour train ride each way and associated costs to determine my size. At least a cross-country trip is not involved.

Hopefully I don't feel terribly out of place in such an upscale establishment. I'm not exactly a big shot or high roller. I just like quality shoes and the Alden aesthetic. Making the leap as I'm planning to do from buying Allen Edmonds to buying Aldens is a big deal for me. I'm hoping that I can do a good job of appropriating the money in my slush fund so that I can pick up 2-3 pair(s) per year. I also hope that when I do accumulate enough to purchase future pairs that there's something I like (and in my size) either in stock or that has an open pre-order.

How in the ever living F does one multi-quote on this damn forum nowadays? Starting to remember why I left when they switched everything over...

When I stopped in for a sizing Sean was very pleasant and helpful. He was very patient with me as I tried on quite a few pairs. I wasn't prepared to purchase any big ticket items, but I did grab some Saphir cordovan cream out of guilt. Lol! I may try to sneak down there Thursday, myself. If you get down there early enough, you have to stop by Optimo.

Do You Consider Sustainability When Purchasing Clothes?

  • Always - Sustainability is a top priority in all my clothing purchases.

  • Often - I frequently consider sustainability, but it isn't the main factor in my decisions.

  • Rarely - I seldom consider sustainability when purchasing clothes.

  • Never - Sustainability is not a factor I consider in my clothing choices.
