I posted some photos of Vincent Coll looking well put together at the line-up and subsequent trial, at least for a 24 year old on trial for murder back in 1931. I guess just another example of how society as a whole was just better dressed in the old days.

Yeah, a lot of those old-time mobsters were indeed very sharp dressers. Unsurprising in a way. They had lots of money, and masculine elegance was prized. I think also they looked to their apparel to convey an aura of respectability.
