If I spend time quoting everything that I agree and disagree with, I will be spending the whole day writing this.

I have to say that being an ABC and in NYC but not living in overly populated areas with Asians but not living in suburbia gives me a different view of certain aspects/stereotypes of chinese-american girls.

From my point of view, there are really two types. Ones that distains dating chinese guys and ones that only date chinese guys. Over simplification maybe, but in general, YES!!! I can't blame some of them because after knowing some kids from high school and the likes, I can attest to how stupid these guys can be to prove they are macho. The girls are bitchy because they basically they can. Not a justification but just a fact. Especially, all the attention they get from guys with asian fetishes. The lack of manners in general with chinese is appalling to me at times. Of course, there are exceptions but in general YES!!! Most chinese are all about front and facade. Alas, I can respect the phrase "Better to be a fake somebody then a real nobody" but some of them take to levels of unbearablity.
For me, hanging around too many chinese at a time for me can be like pricking myself with 1000 needles.

The ones that do date chinese tend me be all chinese-centric. Knows too about M-pop, C-pop etc. I try to avoid these too.

This can be caused by parents that are too busy working and not teaching their kids properly. Parents saying stupid stuff like, "even white people do this/that" in a form that comes out that if white people approve, then it's ok.

When there are too many chinese in one area, I run the other direction. Love my hertiage but there is a endpoint to everything.

I'm not finished!

Guess you should stay away from China, then.

Quite the opposite, I would love to go to China, Singapore, etc. My distain is with mostly ABCs. Although mainland chinese have terrible manners, no taste and a culture that wants to be modern at all cost, I can imagine how they would idolize a person such as myself.....

I think Singapore is the place I would be comfortable with although I think I would do pretty well in Hong Kong as well.

Haha sorry, I didn't realize anybody actually wanted to know. Should I fail the drug test, then perhaps I will consider going. Odds are though, I won't go because I can see myself easily disgusted and uncomfortable around these people. I got PM'd some YouTube videos of the Love Boat, and they weren't exactly inviting. In addition, I already have a girlfriend-ish relationship I am quite happy with, so I have no "need" to go on a Love Boat.

For what it's worth, I disagree with nearly all of you. True, Asian girls are, for the most part, pitiful. I find them easily predictable and manipulated because they're so obvious and shallow. That being said, I find this true about most girls (and guys) in general, regardless of race. I have some friends that are Asian-American girls that are actually cool as **** too, so this all just boils down to individual cases (ie. normal life). I don't go out of my way to go out with an Asian girl (and truth be told, never have), but I'm not disdainful of the idea at all. I remember my mom asking me back in high school why all my dance-dates were white, and why I didn't like Asian girls. I said, "It's not that I don't like Asian girls; Asian girls don't like me!"

And if any of you have ever seen a group of like-minded same-age Asian girls, the sideshow is truly horrifying. I specifically remember eating at the Driskill, an upscale restaurant in Austin, one time, and seeing a brithday group of Asian girls across from me. They were squealing, shabbily dressed in the best that Banana Republic has to offer, and taking pictures of their food. With the exception of Kent Wang, I don't know anybody that would dare do this in a white-tablecloth restaurant

Somehow, I doubt these girls were gourmands eager to post their meal on eGullet.

Still, let's chill with the Haterade everyone, lest we all start sounding like spurned Asian guys instead of aloof Asian guys.

Very true that it just depends on the individual... there are tons of cool Asian-American girls.

And it's funny you mention seeing Asian girls taking pictures of their food!! I just saw same the thing first-hand the other day... I was dining alone

in an upscale modern Japanese restaurant (Chez Mama-san in Georgetown) and across from me were two Korean-American girls taking pictures with their cell phones of every course that was brought to them!

This thread cracked me up. I've known lots of Asian-Americans, and I can think of people who fit the stereotypes described here. But I can also think of a few exceptions.

I enjoyed the pictures. I am not embarrassed to admit I have an affinity for Asian girls.

A lot of them don't have much going on upstairs, and some have annoying personalities, but they're so cute. A particular female co-worker can't carry on much of a conversation unless it's about pop culture (movies, tv, pop music, etc.), but I still enjoy her bubbly personality. Oh, and she's really good at Karaoke!

Take heart LK. You may not have achieved self hatred yet but you are apparently headed in the right direction.
