I don't feel these will be that formal. Maybe in black, but in other colors like Chili, it'll be really sharp!

Cap toed oxfords are decidedly formal regardless. Whether brown or burgundy, these are going to be formal, dress boots.

Oxford -boots- are especially formal as so few boots are oxfords now and it really emphasizes the closed stitching.

This is going to be the absolutely most formal boot AE offers now.

I feel like the heel counter will make them less formal. I can still see these in denim and khakis/chinos.

The heel counter is necessary to give the boot a heel as they aren't balmoral cut. I don't think that detracts from the formality at all.

In terms of pairing them with jeans: I could not see any coherent outfit with these boots and jeans in black, brown, or burgundy. In walnut, maybe, but walnut would look stupid with this design. The walnut is so casual of a colour, that it kind of destroys most features of formality.

Despite the fact that we don't speak about chinnoooOOoooOOOos, you'd need some really dressy chinos and wear this with a jacket in order for it to work.

This is a very formal boot style. It is best at home in trousers and suits. You could even wear this highly polished, in black, with formal wear as per the tradition of dress boots being accepted in those contexts.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Reached for the denim Strandmoks for Sunday. These have become one of my go-to pairs, and were with me through a lot of difficult days in 2022. I have Roycru to thank for talking me into them. I'm not the biggest suede person, but these I love. And if anyone is curious, I'm standing in front of choy, which we eat a lot of.
