No, it is considered income. If I sell the stock a year later at a higher basis then I will be taxed on the gain at a different rate.
That's an interesting transaction. So they sell you shares but report it as income on your W2? And it increases your gross? But it's on a discount? Too many moving parts. ?

Sounds to me like something akin to bonus shares. You buy 100 and they hand you an extra 15... But you have to pay taxes on those.

Damn, you people are really dense.

Even with the discounted ESPPs you pay ordinary income tax on the discounted portion at the time of purchase.

Anyone check the YTD on their bond funds recently?

When I looked last week the fund I went into about three months ago has given me a 5.5% return during my holding period and has paid .35% in dividends every month.

Decided I wanted some cash in my accounts so I sold most of my Emerging Markets position. I am sitting on roughly 3% cash. Since all moves should have a plan for re-entry, here are my 3 triggers.
1. EM up 10% from my sell price.
2. EM down 20% from sell price.
3. S&P down 15%.
2 of these will trigger putting the money back into EM while the other will be directed at the S&P. The reason for the bigger EM price trigger is because EMs are usually more volatile.
