I recently acquired a pair of Buffalo Horn sunglasses and a pair of Macassar ebony wood sunglasses.

Can someone explain to me the advantages of these materials over standard sunglasses material (outside of appearance)?

Thanks in advance.

It's not a functional advantage, just nicer and more exclusive materials with a unique look. In my experience, buffalo horn is actually less comfortable than good acetate, since it can't be bent to fit better. You also need to be more careful with it, since it can delaminate if subjected to rough use.

Hey guys,

New to the forums and was wanting to get some advice on some sunglasses I acquired. I recently lost my good old ray ban wayfarer 2140's. So I found a good sale on tom ford's and wanted to try a bit more "mature" look I guess. I ordered the Tom Ford Hugh sunglasses but I am wondering if they are too square for my face, I feel a bit robo-cop like haha. I found another tom ford pair called the leo that looks more like my wayfarers and wonder if it might look better. I would love your guy's input on this, I am also in a debate between black and havana. The havana/brown looks very nice but I seem to wear alot of black, grey, white, and navy.

Tom Ford Hugh on me:

Tom Ford Leo:

Ray Ban 2140 on me (excuse the funny pose, it was for fun because I was rockin my nephew in the baby carrier haha):

It does exist on shopping sites... ranging from 99 usd to 275 usd.. probably an old model.when bausch&lomb owned rayban. Yellow tinted glasses seems to be the commonest shade. .. makes sense as snipers to prefer yellow tints.

Hi,

I have inherited what appear to be some old rayban sunglasses but cannot find a model number anywhere on them.

I am not sure whether they are fakes or not, perhaps someone can shed some light on them?

Thanks,
Paul
