I wear white (stained a bit now though) bucks in the summer. But, I also wear seersucker and bowties. And linen and poplin. And lots of easter-egg colors.

I don't really see the point of dirty bucks. I wore them when I was in middle school, and I had a dorky art teacher who wore them. I guess you could wear them with chinos and a sweater or blazer in the fall and winter, and wear your white ones in the summer.

I suggest you mirror Black Jack Bouvier's summer attire in South Hampton.

The ones I say were a saddle styling.
Again, they were almost new (probably long gone now too) but I didn't think they were attractive.

Please forgive my ignorance, I want to learn about this.
Would someone direct me to some link that provides the history of this style of shoe;
why is it a 'good look' for spring/summer and also,
is there an age range that is appropriate for wearing them?

Thank you.

Nexus,
The white bucks that were very popular in the 60's or so were very much as shown in the pocketsquareguy picture. They were in a rough suede with the red vibram sole, or sometimes in a black sole. They were worn all the time, summer and winter. Maybe you could consider that they were used as an alternative to the weejun. All ended up looking like the ones in the picture posted and that was just fine. I looked all over for a pair last year. The rough suede is hard to find in white. Almost all offerings now are in nubuck. They really are pretty good for wearing with odd casual trousers for weekend casual events and should be allowed to accumulate some grime. The ones in the picture are really just great. having them smudged takes the edge off of the stark white for the casual appearance.

The comment about having two pairs is a pretty good one. Maybe keep one pair "clean" for wearing for dress up occasions with the seersucker or linen suit. Let the other pair go to show casual character. At the Yoxx price of $75 that is really not too expensive.

The ones I finally bought were the Polo ones that appear to be the same as the ones on Yoox that are linked earlier in the thread. I got mine from GVH and they claimed the MSRP was about $300. Who knows? But they are much better than the J Crew / Bass ones. The Polo model is finished pretty well and they are not particularly blobby like most you will find. The only slight glitch is that they have some "cleats" or ridges molded into the sole. I did not consider that too much of a compormise.

The ET Wright model looks pretty sharp to me, as do the full brogue wingtips. I'm just not sure how many times I would be able to use them, even if I live to be 150. I can expect to wear the plain blucher quite a bit. And, with two pair I don't have to worry about getting them smudged when used frequently.

With shorts I normally wear Topsiders, tan suede desert boots, or low vamp loafers...all sans socks of course.

I just read this whole thread through and found almost nothing of use.

Here's another pair that you can find totally useless. Unlined blue suede chukka boots. No idea how to wear them.
