I have a few custom suits from the same tailor and the suit jacket pocket flaps flare out just a bit towards the bottom. I've seen this style on other suit jackets on the web - a subtle flaring of the pocket flaps. I like the following alternative style of pocket flaps that I found online:

The pocket flaps go straight down without flaring out and the edge curve exists but is minimal. Are these different pocket flap styles generally associated with a particular style or school of tailoring? For example, are flared pocket flaps more common in the American suit style whereas straighter pocket flaps may be more closely associated with Italian or British suit styles?
