Hi all. My dad's wife died in 2003. My dad will turn 62 this March.
When he went to the SS office to get registered for SS, he was told that he could have been collecting on his wife's SS since he turned 60. He was also told that there was no way to retroactively obtain benefits from that time period.
But, some other, non-SS workers have told him that it may be possible to retroactively obtain benefits from at least the past 6 months.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks much.
