I just got a beautiful palmgrens classic briefcase from Stockholm (Swedish leather brand, around since 1896) in tan (https://www.palmgrens.se/en/articles/2.34.106/briefcase-1-compartment). It comes with a shoulder strap but as you can see in the picture it is a cloth one. I guess Ghurka briefs also come with a cloth shoulder strap. What is the view on a briefcase like this - shoulder strap or no?
My previous bag was the filson original briefcase, which came with a nice classic leather strap, that I always left on the bag. Also - since the filson handle is two pieces of leather, it was easy to put the strap in between the handles so it would not drag on the floor - I can't think of an easy way to keep the strap from hanging too long or to avoid the strap touching the floor on this new Palmgrens briefcase.
Thoughts and insights appreciated! I am leaning towards just living without the strap.
