I like the quilted arms on the second one over the shiny leather on the third. Maybe once you wear the third a bit it will dull down?

Sincere thanks for the prompt response.

You are right. Heschung is styled like workboots while Ann D is more modern motor boots look.

I reckon either one will go great with jeans and casual pants.

If you are a casual, indigo jeans and leather jacket guy, go Heschung. If you have a more "romantic" or whimsical wardrobe, then go with Ann Demeulemeester. If you idolize Goethe and dress like a derelict German architect, consider a sabbatical from life.

It's polyester, so probably not. That's Zara, right? If you're looking to stay in that price range, they have much better options for the money (I really like my knit blazer, for instance -- natural fibers, and made in Italy[!]). But for that kind of jacket, you'll probably want to stick with real leather.

Coming from tropical weather, it will be mostly jeans, chinos or even shorts paired with Ts for me.

You mentioned "whimsical" and "romantic"; any ideas or pics to describe these styles in a sunnier climate without getting that "trying too hard" look?

As mentioned above, it is really difficult for us to experiment and try all these clothes in hot and sweaty weather. :(

Check out @conceptual 4est for ideas. Me, I hate temperatures above 70F.

Honestly with footwear I don't think you need to draw a line between romantic/whimsical and utilitarian. Unless I'm mistaken, the Ann D boots in question are not particularly directional, and most Heschungs would be perfectly fine in a number of different aesthetics.

This bad boy:

Nigel Cabourn Coastal Command Jacket.

Here's the dilemma: the line I've got is it's a size 50, with a 24" chest, 22.5" from the inside. I usually wear a size 38 and this is a size 50 (think that translates into a size 40 in US sizing). I've always liked military/military inspired leather jackets, and the shearling makes it really attractive to me, because I get cold easily in the winter, but, I could probably get an ANJ-4 (photo from lostworldsinc.com) or a B3 ((photo also from lostworldsinc.com) for the same, and I could get it custom from Aero leather, or OTR from Buzz Rickson, or, of course, more locally, lost worlds.

Has a very faint black skull and crossbones on the back. Dunno if I could rock it, but man it's got some cool details

Okay, but that jacket is ******* cool. I love the correct forearm zips, as well as the shearling placket and hood. Would be so f'in warm.

You guys, shearling is rad. keeps you comfortable in everything from 50's and sun (that's right, you don't overheat) to -10 (with a wool sweater underneath). Mine is my go-to cold weather jacket; I've worn it for 20+ hours of travel several times and it's miles more comfortable than cottons - doesn't get gross and sweaty, keeps you comfy when you've got that jet-lagged, wildly-swinging body temperature. Like wearing a pillow. Well, more like wearing a rug. Sheep are seriously magical creatures.

From what I've gathered, the Cabourn version has a longer body length than the original Irvin makes (nb: I am not a ww2 fetishist, but I think the original CC jackets had, like, inverse proportions to the NC version - ultra long sleeves and ultra cropped body), which means street clothes would actually work with it (as opposed to just shearling flight pants).

Also, here is a picture of the same model wearing what appears to be a size larger than he is in the shot you posted:

That's the fit I'd want on it.

Here's an SF member photo and some discussion from the NC thread: http://www.styleforum.net/t/209255/nigel-cabourn/1700_100#post_5735021

I guess I'm lame because I really like everything on the jacket except that orange hood :/
