Thanks y'all.

I dig the RLBL suggestion, and I happen to know I'm a spot-on match for their Size 38 fit. I'll keep my eyes open for that. Probably not the same quality as the other two, but worth consideration.

To @dieworkwear 's point, I think I'm looking for a bit of a more aggressive look, or at least something sleeker than workwear. It was good for me to think about because as good as olive looks on other people, it's probably not gonna work with the other stuff I've got...at least not a lighter olive like the Corridor. I'm leaning more toward the Mission Workshop piece the more I look at it, and both the dark olive and charcoal colors are probably a perfect midground between black and olive. I'll at least give it a shot and it'll come down to fit, because I know a lot of MW fits super long and slim and some of it hasn't worked for me before. And I hate to ***** about price, but I sure wish the Eiger wasn't $700 for a jacket cut from standard waxed canvas.

@notwithit I agree with Zam et al. As much as Totokaelo loves to use Marsells in their fits, I've always found them a wee bit disappointing in person, with the possible exception of some of their super-chunky models. Unfortunately I don't have a better suggestion if you want that sort of shoe and need it to be available in clown shoe sizes, so I suppose it could end up as a least-bad-option sort of thing if you really want that look. This is probably a terrible suggestion, but now that Viberg is putting out sidezips I wonder if they could do you right...the guidi-leather sidezips @grizzlygiant ran not too long ago at MilohShop could be a solid substitute, though I don't think he's going to be offering any stock sizes.

Aren't Vibergs generally in more 'classic' work boot shapes? Which I guess is fine as long as they're on the chunkier side.

I'm having to convince myself not to buy the Marsells all over again now that the price dropped. :hide:

Speaking of boots, what do we think of these Butteros? I'm not partial to the medallion on the toe, is it a deal breaker?

I like those. The medallion is pretty subtle IMO, although they have a western vibe regardless.

I'm waiting for the Viberg side-zips, could be promising. Margiela boots are made with Buttero but definitely higher spec with better leather than the Buttero line.

Really? Everyone I know says the margiela leather is very mediocre and that buttero uses nicer leather. The vibes do look great

I also liked these but I suspect the contrast is not SF approved

The undyed seams are a little questionable but I have a pair of mmm sidezips that are contrasted and they look great

I don’t like the contrast, but it can easily be dyed. I also don’t like the toe shape, but that’s more because of how I dress. Would work better for your stuff, I think.

IME they both vary considerably.

If the chelsea is any indication, Viberg's laceless boots look a hell of a lot better with wear on them than they do out of the box. Division Road had a great look in their Patina Post:

The whole design of the last makes a lot more "sense" to me once the midfoot has collapsed down a bit.

For the record, I dig the Butteros. And I agree with Bene's opinion on Margiela vs Buttero in terms of quality...with two small exceptions, I've been uniformly disappointed with the materials on every pair of Margiela boots or shoes I've worn, and one of those two exceptions was a mediocre leather made palatable through a very cool treatment. By contrast, I've been almost uniformly impressed with Buttero's materials. If I was the zip-boot type, I'd personally get some Butteros and be done with it.

I’ve had the exact opposite experience with Margiela boots. Mine have generally had pretty good leather and have held up great- though all of mine are from 2014 and earlier (the below boots, the argentine ones Regis has, and a pair of black side zips). I have a pair of brown fw’11 sidezips that are still in good shape despite 6 years of heavy wear.
