Shoe Shine NYC Metro Area

So I am curious to know if any of my fellow forum members could recommend a place to get a really great shoe shine in the NYC/ Westchester county area. I sadly dont have the time to do it myself anymore, but I dont want my shoes to suffer.

Any suggestions?

I always go to the place at the 51st station on the 6 line (also the Lexington/53rd st transfer for the E and V) and they've always done a great job and they take their time. Cost is $3 plus I give a $2 tip.

Shoe Service Plus! Location here (Google maps link), though most of the time, I get mine shined at Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal - they have shoe shiners out the wazoo.

I like Eddie's Shoe Repair (one in Grand Central and one in the basement of Rockefeller Center). Jim's Shoe repair on 59th and Madison does a pretty good job too.

The Eddie's in the Rockefeller Center underground arcade does the best shine in the city that I have experienced.

I got my shoes shined by the lady in the lobby of my building (W 33rd and 10th). She did a fantastic job. Really worked it well and didn't do a rush job. I got the shoes shined a month ago and they still look pretty fantastic. After a generous tip it came out to $7.

I always walk by Soleman in Penn Station. Peeked in once to look at the price of their shoe care products. I noticed that their Lexol conditioner is $7 compared to the other place in Penn Station, over towards the main concourse, which has it for only $6. I haven't yet had my shoes shined at either establishment.

Small world, I used to go there all the time before we moved a month ago. I also get my metal toe taps there (not the flush kind, everybody relax). Just used to have them cleaned and creamed, never shined. I do not like shined shoes.

Agreed, although the one in Grand Central has a nicer atmosphere (Rockefeller center always has a 10-15 minute wait and Grant Central never has any wait; the chairs are more comfortable at Grand Central).

Though I've never used either, I've heard good things about B. Nelson (in concourse level of the UBS building on 6th Ave) and Angelo's (concourse to the 53rd street/5th Ave V train station). FWIW, I have used B. Nelson for repairs and have been impressed with the work.

Also, I was in JM Weston the other day (68th & Madison). Watched one of the guys doing a shine and he looked like he knew what he was doing. He offered to do one, but not sure if that's just if you're buying shoes there. They use Saphir/Avel (rebranded) too.

I used to go to Angelo's and their shiners do an absolutely top notch job, but I've recently stopped going as the woman behind the counter has been pretty unpleasant. Now I go to Eddie's which is just as good but generally has a bit of a line whereas Angelo's I didn't have to wait. Anyway, I'd go to either of those two places over anywhere else I've been in the city (grand central, a couple places in the UES and in Murray Hill and a few random places in midtown).

Thanks for all the suggestions! I do wish I could make the time at home. Granted I now spend some of that time on here LOL but I see it as a fair trade!
