I've been polishing up my Thursday Boot Company oxfords, and one shoe has developed a rough, matte spot on the toe. I'm using Saphir products (cream; hard wax; mirror gloss). Did I use too much water when applying/buffing the wax? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Something similar happened to me yesterday when i was working on my mirror shine. I smoothed it out with a very dense premium horse hair brush (standard brushes should do the job too), then gently buffed it with the cloth. That should make the surface smooth enough for the next layer. Alternatively you can always buy Saphir Renomat. But then you'll have to start all over again.

In my case there were some wax crumbs on the leather and i didn't quite notice them while applying.
