Gianni, the model is set apart by its tarsal strap so it needs no additional decorations. Single leather type, one colour, small broguing (if at all) would ensure that it's not too flashy.

All of the above.

I am usually a 10K in UK shoes... sometimes 9.5... but some information on eBay re sausages seems to suggest that a 9.5F might be adequate as it is an Italianish snouty last. But I do not really know whether to do it in two colors. Or do it all in a single color. What do you think is better? Two colors like these? Or one color only? [/quote] Anything in Bestetti gets my juices flowing. You can't go wrong with him.

thanks for your advice. I saw that you Bestetti has a very good reputation in the world. In fact, if I decided to do my first bespoke with him is because its MTO for my feet was really great. Tomorrow I'll show you my balmoral Bestetti after makeup. I have withdrawn even those yesterday.

The end I decided to get a two-tone gladiators. Dark brown and tobacco. What do you think? As one of my previous post.

I'm really looking forward to see and try the shoe test.

I think your two tone gladiator-set up will be great! I'm waiting for a pair of Novecento Mavericks myself, they are due to be ready any day now, can't wait to get them.

About Bestettis reputation I can vouch for it to be increasing around the world now, since he launched his RTW/MTO-lines. Spoke to Steven Taffel who owns Leffot about it yesterday and apparently a lot of his customers have been talking about Bestetti lately.
My only concern actually is that it will be going TOO good for him, since he seem to be swamped with orders already leading to long waiting times, and the demand does seem to be increasing. So just hope that he can keep up with it, he's such a nice guy to deal with so he deserves all the success he can have.

Really nice also the Mavericks Bestetti. Then the processing twentieth century is truly spectacular. For now, everything seems perfect Bestetti. So do not wait to be able to receive a phone call from Bestetti going to try the shoe test.

is true times are more or less long. But I am convinced that for all the good things in life take time. Otherwise, if the times too much speedup means that everything is industrial and uncared for.

Instead Bestetti told me yesterday that it is all done and edited by him personally. And this is the only guarantee to have a product of excellence.

In the end even Rolls and Ferrari have waiting times shorter or longer!

Here are ADs. These seemed to be known as Ball Strap Oxfords.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=EnAbAAAAIBAJ&sjid=F0sEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5426,4063893

The original English model is made of Genuine White Buckskin with “full brogue brown calfskin fixings.” It is known as a “Ball Strap” pattern, which is useful as well as decorative, as it prevents the soft Buckskin vamp from spreading across the ball of the foot.

However beautiful they are, and how ever much I would like to find many examples to inspire me, there is no way I'm going to type "ball strap" into my search engine.

That's cool these images ... really big ... you have others? Of course it is still a big and beautiful model. you talk about it more and more I can not wait that Bestetti make me fit and shoe test.

Let me know if you find any other images. I'd really like to know who invented this model. And of course I believe that to avoid confusion, you could adopt the name created by Bestetti, ie Gladiators.

I know Gaziano & Girling the same pattern calls D'Annunzio. But Bestetti yesterday, as she took the measures, he told me that he called Gladiators 4 years ago, in order not to use the name of a great esthete D'Annunzio.

I feel nobody can answer, because that is a similar question as “Who started a double layer of vamp with toe cap and quater with heel counter?” That strap would be a reinforcement of correspondent shoes according to the above AD.

Here is Manfield & Sons in 1935, which would be a collection of Northampton Museum & Art Gallery.

Why didn't he use D'Annunzio? Edward Green used the names of British Prime Ministers.

you're right .... maybe no one can answer this question. I really like the name invented by Bestetti. And he told me that he has not called D'Annunzio for two reasons. 1) in the world of elegance D'Annunzio is already inflated, especially here in Italy. 2) D'Annunzio is the name of the same model made by Gaziano & Girling.

P.S. even those beautiful pictures you posted ... whatever the date of creation remains for me one of the most beautiful models of shoes. So three cheers for the Gladiators!
