1. Welcome to the new Styleforum!

We hope you’re as excited as we are to hang out in the new place. There are more new features that we’ll announce in the near future, but for now we hope you’ll enjoy the new site.

We are currently fine-tuning the forum for your browsing pleasure, so bear with any lingering dust as we work to make Styleforum even more awesome than it was.

Right now the site is slow because we are fixing all the images from the past 4 months. Many of you noticed that these were missing, and we are fixing that problem now. Unfortunately, it is taking up a lot of resources and causing the site to be slow.

Oh, and don’t forget to head over to the Styleforum Journal, because we’re giving away two pairs of Carmina shoes to celebrate our move!

Please address any questions about using the new forum to support@styleforum.net

    Cheers,

Ormonde Man today, from a new decant. This one is a stunner. Juniper berries, followed by pepper, citrus, cedar and oud. Really enjoying it so far.

ELDO Antiheros today. Lavender soap. I usually prefer smelling skanky rather than clean but it's bloody hot and humid today

Richard James Savile Row today. I was lucky enough to find a FB of this one, which is pretty rare these days. It’s a fougere which they’ve thrown a kitchen sink worth of notes at, yet it remains pretty discreet and elegant throughout. It does seem to have faded on me a bit after just 7 hours, and I’d prefer better longevity than that.

RJ was a nice one; like Cuiron and BelAmi it used to be one of those you could find easily and very cheaply (IIRC I got my 50ml bottles for about $10 each). Not so today! But, it's a nice scent and got lots of compliments.

Shalimar for me today... nothing surprising (haha). I keep mentioning it only in hopes that all of you guys will forget that your grandmother loved it and try it yourselves.

Got my 100ml bottle of RJ for $40 shipped, so I’m pretty happy with that.

Today is Allure Homme Sport Cologne Sport. I found a partial bottle of this at a flea market so I sprayed it all over myself after I rode home. It’s a pretty nice citrus; I’m surprised I haven’t tried this before.

How do you like it? I love Bourdon's Bois d'Orage/French Lover for FM! In the fall/winter it's possibly my most worn scent. I sort of have an aversion to anything to powdery so I haven't tried that one yet.

    Wearing Interlude Man tonight.

In 2013 I sampled a lot of fragrances (100+) and by 2014 more or less settled into a rotation of 18 or so FBs. Just wondering, what were everyone's favorite 2014 releases and what is worth sampling? Any recently released faves?

I've tried Shalimar, but it was my father's mother who wore that, and it evokes powerful memories that keep me from appreciating it on myself. Good memories, though!

As for the Bel Ami, it's such a fantastic fragrance whose timelessness is probably due to its very elegant touch to a classic powerhouse leather. I gave my dad a bottle of it for Christmas and it blew him away - he's told me several times already since he got it how much he loves it.

My two highlights of 2014 were probably Amouage Journey Man and Arquiste The Architects Club. L’Etrog Acqua is pretty nice too, but I think it’s limited to use on hot days; Architects Club is a better all-rounder.

There’s been a lot of buzz about that one, but it hasn’t reached us here yet. It sounds great.

my 3 faves in 2014 were Slumberhouse Norne, CDG Hinoki, and a somewhat distant third, Tauer Desert Marocain.
