Never been to Mums, but I do like shabu shabu.  Love 1300 on Fillmore that someone mentioned earlier.  Excellent southern comfort food and it's a couple blocks closer to the trunk show and J's after party.  We had our wedding reception there and had their Sunday gospel brunch band play.

1300 on Filmore is great but requires a guarantee and accurate headcount for reservations which is very hard to do following an event like a trunk show. So, we will head to Mum's where we have more flexibility.

Lets have several people order UBER's for 5:45 PM and that way the entire Meetup can head over to Mum's at Japantown as a group. It's 3/4 mile away per Google Maps.

I'll be hoofing it to work up an appetitie and because walking around the city after drinking bourbon is always fun.

I just discovered Epaulet online a few weeks ago and I like what I see. I'll be in SF next Saturday to drop a BB golden fleece suit off for tailoring. So I think I'll drop by the trunk show with GF in tow. Dinner sounds fun too.

Is there an agenda posted somewhere? How will it work?

Are the demo items going to get sold during the day such that there is nothing left to look at and try near the end of the day? Or is there a large amount of item, fabric, and size samples for viewing and fitting but orders are taken for delivery at a later time?

Does everyone attending dinner plan to show up at the trunk show 1-2 hours before dinner, ie big rush at the end? Or is there a reason to show up earlier?

I've never been to one of these things. Sorry for the remedial questions.

I'm curious too. I have a list of items I would love to try on but I don't know how this works either. Will you have the time to measure us for future MTO orders?

Mountainman and Gentfarmer,

Most trunk shows are an enjoyable combination of getting to know a company, seeing and trying apparel and socializing. It is a very different experience than say running into a store a grab something. So allow plenty of time to see everything and to try on your favorites for fit and to purchase. Then plan to hang out for a while. It is remarkable how much you learn about clothing by sharing a few stories or observations with other guys or the owners attending these events. No matter how much time I spend at these someone will say, "Hey, did you see ____" . And, I find out about something I otherwise would have missed.

There will be some snacks and refreshments, so stick around and have fun getting to know other Styleforum members in real life.

With plans for an early Meetup dinner, yes, there will probably be a bigger crowd in the afternoon.

Whether it is a Styelforum meetup, a vendor trunk show or a visiting tailor, I can easily blow through 2+ hours, just taking everything in. Add more time to that for some socializing and a relaxing afternoon.

For trunk shows, I always try to find something that my wife can do in the area for an hour or so. That way we are both happy and unrushed.

Just a reminder, you will be trying things on so wear shoes, trousers and a shirt that works best for that sort of thing.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Gus, can one just show up for the Trunk Show w/o an appointment?
For previous ones, appointments were de rigueur. I am not sure
when I'll be in the City. Please clarify?

So United plays Chelsea at 0930 Saturday morning and I'm going to start my trek early enough to make it to the city and watch. Anyone for Irish breakfast and English Prem League at the Irish Bank?

What's an Irish breakfast? A shot of whiskey chased by a Guinness?

I'm Irish, but not pure bred so I'm not sure I could handle it.
