@ ohyehh, thanks for your input!

Seems like most ppl opt for the classic L01 w/ silver zippers; even the SLP L01 promo photos are all w/ metal silver zippers. SLP is going to open a store in town so I will go try the silver L01.

@ scanner, very valid point. I like the whole black L01 but I feel it is bit of rip off as it is same price as the classic L01 which use METAL zipper. I also afraid the coating on the black buttons would fade (scratched)...

The leather will age and get beat up, but you don't want the zippers to? Seems odd to me. The plastic bit, sure I suppose, although high quality molded parts are pretty durable and used in much more strenuous applications than zippers. Buy whichever you like better, not which will get the most thumbs in 3 years.

@ cyc wid it, Thanks for chiming in. I buy stuff based on what I like and not about what ppl think of it. The reason I'm having a hard time to decide is because no local store carries a classic L01!! Don't know what their buyer is thinking...Good news is the first SLP store will be opening soon in the city!

I know the leather will be more natural (beat up) the more I wear it which is what I want and I'm totally ok with scratches on the metal zippers. The black L01 use SHINNY black zippers and buttons that if the black coating ever get scratched it would look cheap & ugly. That is why I prefer SLP use matte black zippers. It is like having bad scratches on a shinny black calf skin shoes.

Opnions?

Personally i like the color and i think they rips are alright. I think they'll look better after some wear.

As someone who has spent a considerable amount of time in awe of the zippers on my L17, don't get the black L01 with the plastic zippers. I can understand wanting the look of the all black jacket, but trust me, there's something very satisfying about opening and closing the chunky metal zippers on the L01/L17, and the quality of the zippers really elevates the entire jacket, as well as the experience of wearing it. Granted, it's more emotional than logical, but once you wear it, you'll get it.

Also, there's a difference between breaking in leather, which is meant to soften with wear, and breaking in hardware, which isn't. Simply put, metal is designed to last longer and withstand more than most plastics.

the color of mine are lighter below the knees so less contrast from above the knees but you definitely got a good pair

@echau those single knees look great. I actually really like the SS16. Ya, I understand why people don't like the current destroyed distressing compared to the 2013 since the distressing doesn't look any where near as "natural" but I wear mine all the time and they have gotten buyer over time. Tear a bit more and a lot more Frey.
