Anyone know a place I can get a pair of raw denim bootcut jeans or at least a pair of bootcut jeans with a clean dark blue wash?

I wouldn't mind knowing as well despite the apparent h8. Reasonably flared slim boot can be some serious cowboy ****, which is what denim is about in the first place really.

Levis 517 bootcut rigid from Sheplers. http://www.sheplers.com/levis-jeans-...-boot-cut.html

They're not raw selvedge or anything like that. They are the last Levis made with heavy denim (that isn't marketed under "premium vintage work wear" with a drastic price increase); they're 14.5 oz denim.

Careful, as the 517 has several washes, the link goes to the rigid version, but they have deep indigo as well. Oddly, this version (rigid) isn't even on the official Levis site.

You might want to read the reviews at Sheplers, as there are many opposing viewpoints on the cut and quality control issues of these jeans.

Note that the 517 cut has undergone revisions similar to the 501, causing frustration for those that fell in love with the cut, only to have it become modified. For example, I have some 517's that were made in the USA from about ten years ago that are slim, similar to the current 511; but I also have some recent 517's (made in Mexico) that are looser. If you read the reviews of the 517 on Sheplers and Amazon, you'll get an idea on the frustration this has caused.

At $40, they're jeans anyone can afford to experiment with.
