Hello distinguished owners of C&J. I have a question about the grained Conistons. Are they too hot for warm climates? I live in a tropical part of the world. How thick is the leather? I cannot stop eyeing on them Conistons in scotch grain leather. Irresistible!

Think it really depends on how well you deal with hot weather. I've worn mine during NY summers and have not had issues.

I live in LA. Wore mine last week in 95 weather.

They are nicer in cool.

I woukd avoid them in humidity. Heat is OK.

Thank you gentlemen for your quick opinions. Yes it’s pretty humid here, even when the weather is wet. I’ve worn heavy and thick work boots like Red wing and Wesco with no issues whatsoever, but I’ve never experienced having shoes or boots in grained leather. They seem to be very popular in icy cold conditions.

Perhaps the roughout suede Coniston would be an option for me.

Both are great options for wet weather, but there will likely be less maintenance with rough out suede as you likely won't need to/want to shine those.

If you can wear a Red Wing and not feel gross you'll be fine in a Coniston.

Each to their own but I struggle in my conistons during the Irish summer. Irish summer often hits the dizzy heights of 20 Celsius. I have rough out Chelsea 5 which I find comfortable throughout the summer

I don’t wear boots that often during the summer, but it definitely happens. And when I do, I make sure to wear wool socks (on the thinner side, not boot socks) as wool lets your feet breathe.

They're great. I've had mine 7 years and they look better now than they did when new. They require zero maintenance and are great in wet weather. Don't let the word suede put you off.

Well; I am in Madagascar now, and I am totally fine at my office with my C&J Harlech. Boots are totaly ok if you are used to warm climates all year round. It may be different if you live in Juneau and come to tropical countries juste a couple days from time to time.

There used to be a noted C&J stockist in Kuala Lumpur. Their prices were so low C&J stopped supplying them. So I imagine the C&J range were suitable for Kuala Lumpur weather. The bonus was you could use their prices, converted from Ringitts, to negotiate a good deal with price match sellers in the U.K.
