I definitely do not have an immense shell collection, but I do own assorted footwear that utilizes shell from several tanneries, namely Horween, Rocado (Toscana), Maryam, Shinki, Clayton & Sons, Rocinante, Comipel, and Cloe (as well as individual skins that I keep for personal usage ((or future usage)). All pretty much exhibit the same characteristics, but as I said, I do not own that many pairs that use shell (under 20). I'm going based on my experience and the experience of several of the folks on here and around the web.

As with all things it seems, YMMV.
Yeah that’s weird, I don’t have pairs from C&S, Comipel or Cloe, but our experiences couldn’t be more different. I’m approaching triple that amount in pairs, and save one pair from Rocado, no break in issues.

Got one in order. Due in December. I’ll post pics when they arrive.

Thanks. I have a pair on order as well but no delivery date. These were announced in May, with expected delivery in October. So now that’s postponed to December… Quite the lead time, but I expect it to be well worth the wait.

Please do post pictures when you get yours. I probably won’t be able to pick mine up until next year.

Hello gents, I just found a deal for a pair of Evesham chukka boots, which was made on the 318 last. I couldn’t find much information regarding this last. Can anyone advise the fit of this last. I wear 6 1/2 E on last 200 and 248, 6 E on last 325, 335, 365.

I should explain further as my lead time is likely longer than yours. I ordered a pair but after a couple of weeks the C&J shop I ordered through told me someone else had beaten me to my size. They were very apologetic and offered to do a special order for me for no extra charge. So I think you can hope for your boots to be with you sooner. If it were me I’d ring C&J to get an updated ETA on your boots.

100% no breaking in required here… my cherished Islay boots back from Northampton for resoling and heel lining repair. The finishing around the welt looks impeccable. I opted to go with the Ridgeway sole this time.

Surely it's only a matter of time before CJ revise the stock option to be made with a ridgeway sole. I also love my Islays but will certainly resole with ridgeway when the day comes.
