Swiss AS movement watch from ebay 36USD. Fluted steel bezel 35USD and crown from ebay too. Solid link steel Oyster bracelet from China 18USD. Full service and glass polish.....total investment in this project watch 237 Eur.
Day is quick-advanced by pushing the crown down, date set is by pulling the crown to 2nd position. Rare movement nowadays.

That looks more like a copy of a President bracelet than of an Oyster, no?

Perhaps u r correct. I like 3d links of this bracelet. I wear it loose and they tend to cling less to my skin. Perfect Summer watch , whether it is a Summer of 1956 or 2018...

My boss is retiring in a few months and we're looking to buy her a watch as a gift. It's certainly going to be in "poor man's" price range, probably $300 or less. She's probably not somebody who will ever have the watch serviced, but a really great bulletproof movement in a Seiko or something would probably be a nice option. Otherwise, while I'm a fan of autos, maybe a kinetic would be a good compromise.

I don't know much (read: anything) about about women's watches (and she probably won't go for the woman-wearing-a-man's-watch fad), so does anybody have recommendations? If the company also offered engraving service, that would be great also, but of course we can always go third-party for that.

Suggestion: Let's rename this thread : 'Poor Taste Man's Watch thread'.
