Brigg makes them, at least last I heard.

I've seen the swatches. French Navy, as it appears on my screen, is not too bright or feminine for me. Jaguar and sage green are also really nice.

Do they cost more than the Briggs?

A Hermes umbrella was sold a month or two ago in B & S at a very nice price. It had a navy blue canopy and looked wonderful.

I have a whangee handled one with gray canopy (sterling collar) and a malacca handled one with black twill canopy. The former is beautiful but a bit showy - it looks funny with a serious business suit. The latter is beautiful but more serious. If I could have only one, I would choose whangee or malacca with a navy handle. The malacca handle is as nice as whangee, I think, but you have to see it up close to appreciate that it is different than a regular hardwood.

For more casual wear I have a bark chestnut with sage green canopy. It is the coolest umbrella I've ever seen, I love it.

Regular cherry is my favorite look but it doesn't handle getting wet and drying as well as other woods.

You have to apply some sort of treatment occasionally (I don't have the e-mail with the details in front of me right now).

It's not a big deal but probably worth noting.

Take all of my umbrella advice with a grain of salt. I rarely venture outside in the rain.

I highly recommend birdeyes maple handle as I bought one made for Hermès.

I have the cherry, silver collar, black canopy combination and it's very nice. The one thing I don't like is that the handle finish has some crazing on it which makes me think that the wood wasn't entirely stabilized when it was finished. I've been thinking about taking it into the shop next time I'm in London.

I want a chocolate brown canopy in silk with green snakeskin covered handle, slim as a financially deprived Eastern European model.

Black calf handle, black cannopy with 11 rib's Would go for dark color handle, but not cherry. Althoug cherry goes well with ultramarine ... Maple looks nice These have always facinated me: http://www.swaineadeney.co.uk/catalo...productsPage=7 Anny good alternatives, or is this THE ONE?
