Another thing I noticed yesterday when I was cruising through old Sears and J.C. Penney’s catalogues from the 1950’s to 1970’s as a means of training my eye to what real fashion is all about…
how few shoes with laces are even featured in the catalogues.
it’s all loafers and slip on.
but no lace up shoes in general, oxfords or derbies. All loafers.
I guess men of style that wanted lace up shoes went to Alden or Allen Edmonds or Florsheim at the time? And the more uninspired department store one stop shop gentleman wore loafers and slip on shoes?
