My gf sent me this...about wanting to get a cropped double breasted coat:

I think I am going to go back and buy that Theory cropped jacket...

My opinion:
I like a lot of those, but the double-breasted is too much.

Sitting around indoors with a little double-breasted jacket all buttoned up, that looks weird. It's like wearing gloves indoors. The regular jackets with 1 or no buttons, that's totally normal. It's a classic style. But women walking around the office all day with buttoned up mini peacoats - that's marsupialed. Are they going outside or are they staying in?

You could do much better for the price if you looked to Santoni, Borrelli, or Isaia.

The one she wanted was a Theory piece at TJ MAXX for $150. The price isn't a big deal, I'm questioning the style.

Is it fully canvassed?

I think it's a clever idea, this double breasted cropped jacket. At the same time, minus couturier level proportion and workmanship, I'd rather go with another style. Cropped jackets are eye catching on women, provided that these gals have a very, good backside. Otherwise, I'd suggest another style. Naturally, I'm OLD. Fifty-one, to be exact; my eye is skewed to another era. Here are two examples of cropped jackets that I like, very much.

These jackets can be worn with trousers, with jeans, with skirts . . . any way the lady likes.

This reminds me how much I hate "elbow" sleeves on most cropped jackets. -- shudder--

They may add the needed bulk for the woman who is not, how do you say it.. "well endowed" on top. Probably would not look good on fuller-chested woman.

vanity,

I think you should stay away with women's cropped jackets personally.

On second thought, they might be good for showing off the guns

cropped jackets are not the easiest thing for women, to wear. I do think they can look jazzy, but you need the right figure to wear them. Jackets with an open front are much easier to maneuver and to live with.

This is pretty hot.

They need to get uglier models though, I can't concentrate on the clothes.

So are we all in agreement that buttoned-up, double breasted mini jackets look silly?

Thus far people have only posted pics of single breasted coats.

I somehow knew you would be the type to like Juicy.
