Going to buy the wife a new camera tomorrow. Looked at the Oly E520 vs the D40, and liked the features of the E520 better for same price. The shop I'm going to just got some D3000s in too so I'll check those out, it's $100 more. Anybody got any suggestions or feelings either way? Thanks.

Don't know anything about the d3000, but i have an olympus e-3 and several pro lenses and the quality and build are fantastic. It's partly personal (menus and how it feels in your hands) but i chose an e-3 over a d300 partly due to the more compact nature of the lenses and some other features that probably don't matter to you and are only really useful when partnered with an e-3 (it's a fully splash/rain/dust proof). The 520 is a great camera.
