What do you think that would look like? I have a hard time even imagining it now...

The FF would blend in nicely with the overall tone and feel of the MCU. There has always been a sense of fun and adventure to the books.

the FF could be introduced to set up Galactus as the Big Bad of the next arc. Plus, with the X-Men back...more space-based plots.

Hmm, that makes sense. I feared another lacluster origin story, but starting out with full-on integration sounds a little better — especially if they could harness the tone of the existing Marvel films. It seemed to work well enough with the new Spider-Man.

I think they’d need a really capable writer to bring out the team’s emotional core and really play up the themes of family to balance out the cartoonish look of the characters. The latest movie seemed to confuse that with a more somber tone, which was just depressing on so many levels.

I don't think they look anymore cartoonish then a lot of other comic characters.

Cap walks around dressed like a flag with wings on his helmet. It's very cartoonish. Ant-Man too.

A good script, cast and director is all you need.

True. I guess it’s that two guys turn into complete cgi. Hard when you don’t see their faces (notice how Spider-Man’s mask gets ripped off at the climax of every single SM movie ever :p )

We watched Bright on Netflix last night. It's an original Netflix movie starring Will Smith, about an alternate modern reality where humans co-exist with mythical creatures like orcs and elves and fairies. It's a crime/police drama set in Los Angeles--Will Smith is an LAPD cop who has been assigned the first-ever orc LAPD officer as a partner. The premise is pretty clever, but the movie doesn't deliver. The end sort of fell apart, IMHO.

I agree about the end.

On a separate note, does anyone feel like Netflix is worth the monthly subscription (I currently pay the $10.99)? I struggle to find something to watch. Rewatched The Imitation Game for a second time yesterday (good flick). The Netflix originals are cool but I feel like a Redbox subscription may better suit my taste. I just want to see the latest movies that I do not watch at the theatre.

Does anyone find more use with an upgraded Netflix plan?

Watched Bright with the family Christmas Eve. It reminded me of Alien Nation with the its premise. But Wil Smith’s dialogue was straight MIB. What I didn’t understand was the LOTR rings references? The Dark Lord? It was if it tried to build on a known story then just dropped it. The Orcs blooding remined me more of the Klingons. Another film that could have done with better script editing.

Is it too early to talk about the new star wars movie?

I was underwhelmed by the rehashing of the same old tropes, hastily told. (It felt like the movie version of Taco Bell). Just didn’t see the point.

As always, I enjoyed the trademark Star Wars sounds.

Well, I’m finally making my way through the list you guys recommended, so maybe we could try the Punisher. (There’s no thread for that, right?).

Nutshell: definitely as good as people say, but not what I was expecting. Change the title, and I never would have known it was based on the comics. I remember a throwback vigilante similar to Batman, a rage-monster eliminating local thugs. This one, if you haven’t seen it, is modernized: former elite military dude enmeshed in some Blackwater-type shenanigans in the Information Age. Seeing the previews, I guessed this Castle was just some former local cop taking out the mafia in a black outfit that would eventually feature some sort of subtle skull markings.

About halfway in, I’m loving it, though. The tone is brutal, the acting solid, and not even a whiff of the cheesiness you’d expect. As always, I’m curious how much they drew from the source material.

Bonus surprises: C Thomas Howell, and the evil dude from Highlander, lol.

The punisher really is that good. I also find The Gifted better than expected. Agents of Shield is meh. If I didn’t love the characters from prior seasons I would find it to hokey this season.
Last seasons Legend of Tomorrow was a lot of fun and worth watching on Netflix.

Watched the first two episodes of The Dark on Netflix, very odd and very annoying its overdubed from German to English makes it like a Japanese 60’s SciFi flick. Suposedely inspired by Stranger Things and then given a Euro Noir treatment.
