I hope they can settle this. I'm already pissed that I have to wait until after the summer for the next season, but if they go on ahead with the show without Weiner, they'll be committing suicide. His writing and vision is what makes the show.

This is a disaster. The show's ratings and revenue are only mediocre, but the show still has large production costs. The critical acclaim of the cast and writers are driving up their value and the sets/props are already expensive. AMC is basically using Mad Men to give credibility and notoriety to the other 98% of their original programming (where they're making their money anyway) and it leaves Weiner with little leverage to negotiate in his best interest on the back of the show's value to the network as a whole. Saying "Your other shows wouldn't be making money without my show" is a hard thing to quantify.

The whole thing is upsetting me greatly, especially because this would be the season when the miniskirt was in full force. I'll bet January Jones has some nice gams.

AMC should outsource John Hamm's role to India. "Bhupinder Gupta is Don Draper". AMC could then have 10 songs in each episode of Mad Men.

I certainly understand the economic side of it. They're only getting under two million viewers per episode, yet they have a large cast, and I'm sure that with all the locations and travel it's pretty expensive. I don't like the news either, but I suppose AMC is worried about their bottom line. (Of course, I have no idea what the actors' salaries are, and that's always a big factor.)

It gives Christina Hendricks time to have a baby. But as for reduction of cast - didn't a whole bunch of people get axed at the end of last season? I can't see the office be any smaller. Cooper left but I expected him to be back.

They're going to have problems with continuity if they pick up the story at 1965 again since I'm sure the actress playing Sally is going to age. The one playing Bobby they have replaced a few times in the past.

Anyway, I'm disappointed.
