I have to replace a burnt-out halogen bulb and am having trouble getting the round glass UV filter that goes on top of the bulb back in place. There's also a metal coil that's supposed to keep the filter securely in the fixture.
How do I do this? I've been trying by putting the coil in and then slipping the UV filter under it (the shape of the coil is such that there are two bends that would prevent the filter from slipping out), but it won't fit that way. I've been trying for 30 minutes and it's pissing me off.
Update: Package for bulbs claims it's suitable for use without an additional filter. Should I take it at it's word? I've heard bad things about halogen bulbs re: UV waves.
