I'm shopping for my first blazer.
I want a navy blazer with side vents under $400.

Please, throw me some suggestions, thanks!

How old are you? In what setting(s) will this be worn? Do you like classic style, or more fashion forward?

The 2 JCrew options you picked are fairly classically tailored except for the thin lapels. The Suit Supply jacket has a higher button stance and patch pockets. So while they both are navy blazers, they have different looks.

If that "Black Lapel" rag is typical of their offerings then avoid. It is too short for the model and the trousers defy polite description.

Most those jackets really dont go with the jeans they've paired them with in the photos.

How do you actually want to use the jacket?

Personally the Suit Supply is the only one where the model styling is right but it also depends on what fits you.

I'll wear the blazer to nice dinners and musical concert/events.
I'll be wearing the blazer with chinos + dress shirt + loafers.

You can check out ehaberdasher as well to see if he has any navy sport coats left in your size. I don't own one but earlier reviews have been extremely positive.

So I went to the local suit supply store and they did not carry size 34S jackets.

I have $500. What's my next best option?

Should I go flap pockets or patch pockets?
This blazer will be worn with chinos and odd trousers with loafers and monk straps. its my first blazer and I need it to be an all around workhorse.

when you go down to size 34 just get 34R. Order online if needed.
