There's others on eBay stamped likewise with a "W" on the heel (and on the lining near the heel). What does it mean? I initially thought those meant "wide" since I got my Park Ave at 6.5E, but now I'm not so sure.

Shoes that carry a "W" marking are shoe that are worn and sold as is. There is no warranty on these shoes and they can't be recrafted.

As in, even if you send it to AE in a bag stuffed with 5 Jacksons, they'll simply return the whole thing?

As for the "can't be recrafted" claim, it's a load of nonsense.

I'm sure you were at first excited that you had stumbled upon a cache of mythical "W" branded AEs, rumored to have been produced specifically for the former President.

...but I have seen the prototypes, and the heels of his line were actually to be branded with "L" and "R" - presumably to save him many painful and embarrassing mistakes.

It makes no sense that they can't be recrafted because they have been worn. In my experience, this is exactly what leads to the shoes needing to be recrafted.

No, no no. It's AE code for Vox and for second. W split is two Vs (Vox) squared, or V2. The 2 equals second/s. Am I the only guy aside from Vox who knows this?

Saw some W stamped at Nord. Rack today, I presume the W denotes seconds/sent to a place like Nordstrom rack.

I'm a little confused here...seriously, someone please clarify;
...AE's with the 'W' mark..AE WON'T re-craft?
If not, what is the reason?
