I'm on the hunt for some mid priced (in the 3-400 dollar range) Austerity Brogues. Preferably something in a dark brown. Any leads?

I'm interested as well.
How do this fit compared to C&J 337 last?

Not too bad. Probably out of my budget especially if i'm dinged by customs. But still....

^ yeah, check out the cheaney imperial line. They have a nice version that should work out to about $380 or $390 shipped to the US.

Just out of curiosity, and slightly off topic, but if a wingtip with no brogue is called an Austerity Brogue, would a cap toe with a medallion but no brogue be considered an Austerity Semi Brogue, or just a cap toe with a medallion?

Been thinking of getting a black pair. Obviously the Vass are amazing but the Cheaney is half the price...

Cheaney Imperial Balmoral

Vass

Another (not a real austerity brogue but with small enough punches for me) shoe I am considering: C&J Drummond

Interestingly the C&J Handgrade Drummond is slightly more expensive than the Cheaney Imperial...

The Cheaney just doesn't do it for me. Something about the shape and the proportions between upper and sole that I don't much care for. Although these things are hard to really sense from photo. It is interesting that Cheaney's Imperial grade is priced about the same as C&J benchgrade. Cheaney certainly puts more into the soles at this price than C&J.

I have the Drummond in tan and beechnut and am very happy with them.

I know Carmina makes an austerity - have you checked that out yet?

The Cheaney Imperial runs 390 gbp and the C&J 335 gbp... still a lot of handwork for the small difference.

I'm aware of the price difference, Gdot clearly isn't.

I like the Imperial range, I have two MTO styles based on the Imperial spec, however C&J HG is only a little more and offers a quality alternative.
