Any recommendations? I am not really into the Sterlingcoats and what not that are being recommended around these parts.
I'm in the same boat. Want a modern cut, preferably light to mediumweight. I sweat rather easily so I don't want it to be heavy and thick which most are.

Thinking of having Luxire create on for me.

Is fashion statement coat bad? Assuming that it fits as it should - what do you think about the make of the coat in terms of quality? e.g. buttons, wool, etc.

I'm not an expert on fashion jackets, so I can't give much advice. It is 100% wool, so that is going for it, but we don't know the density of the wool to know if it is a warm coat. Quite frankly the shortness of the coat would be a deal breaker for me. Also, the add-on straps at the cuffs are a bit much for me.

At 347 British Pounds, that is about $461 US. If the wool is of a heavy weight material, and if the coat were longer, that would not be a bad price. But we don't know about the density of the wool shell, and the coat is several inches too short.

But please keep in mind that I am a purist who specializes in pre 1980 Navy issue peacoats. I have little use for any "peacoat" that isn't Navy issue. If you like the coat, please don't let me dissuade you from buying it.

I own a Sterlingwear Authentic in 38R which felts well but I've been thinking of getting either a Buzz Rickson 1910 or potentially a Nigel Cabourn peacoat. Has anyone worn both a Sterlingwear and a Buzz Rickson who could compare the sizing of the two? Would a 38 in Sterlingwear be comparable to a Buzz Rickson 38?

Thanks!

I finally picked up a 1910 Buzz peacoat and its everything I always hoped it would be. I've wanted one for years. Afraid I haven't worn a Sterlingwear coat before so I couldn't help with a comparison. But my Buzz coat is a 38 and I'd say the fit is TTS.

Good to hear, that leans me towards just biting the bullet and nabbing one. In your experience, do the measurements align with what's listed by Self Edge?
