The GMTO #101504 Light brown antique calf boots ended 31.08. so it's not like they're rushing these.

I recently bought a pair of Meermin in Cognac Calf.
The fit is great. The last and finish are beautiful.
But I have a problem with the aspect of the leather. What the heck did they put on it?! It looks like plastic. It doesn't break in properly.
I polished the shoes multiple times and they still look flat. No depth, I recently bought a pair of Meermin in Cognac Calf.

Any ideas ?

Sorry for the crude iPhone pic

I actually like the colour of them in your pic there but to address your question, I don't know of any shoes that change colour when they break in and from a couple of polishings, usually takes time for a patina to develop, that said to speed up that process you could consider using crèmes instead of wax, and or saddle soaping them first that will increase the impact of your polishing, especially with cremes but be careful with that can take a lot of work to fix if you aren't careful.

has anyone ever proposed to Sandro something like the alden plain toes ?

Maybe rui last shell cordovan ...
I'd love the Alden's but in Italy they cost a ridicolous amount of money (more tha 700 euro !)

the likes of :

would anyone of you like it too?

These look amazing.

Any reviews on Meermin's quality versus the likes of Alden's, AE's, C&J's and Carmina's?
I would say they're just a notch lower than Carmina/C&J Linea Maestro wise. Given my experience with Aldens I generally rate Euro-made shoes higher than them (not being biased here, I used to be a huge Alden fanboy and've gone through quite a lotta pairs of shell boots).
