well, it's 2 size too small for starter, even paul stuart does this funky look in their stock photo these days (or for the past 8? years), used to be paul stuart would use "normal" length jacket for proper size but now just like everyone else stick a 36R on a 38/40L guy

Stopped by Hermes today (out of curiosity more than anything), and was surprised by the type of service. Walked in (the staff was polite), and was told that if I needed help, they would put me on a waiting list until an associate was available. Never had that happen before.

All that to say, some nice tailoring. Ties were colorful as usual, and they had a really cool black seersucker sport coat (as per styleforum nerd protocol, I checked the manufacturer’s tag, and confirmed that it’s made by Belvest). It gave me an idea for a spring/summer commission - either linen, or cotton seersucker, black sport coat through Samuelsohn.

Interesting to hear that Hermes uses Belvest. That is a brand that you rarely see around better US menswear retailers. I wonder why?

They've been making Hermes RTW tailoring for a while. I believe Hermes bespoke is done by Cifonelli.

All that to say, you are paying a Hermes premium. The SC I saw was priced over $4k Canadian, which puts it in the ballpark of $3,400 U.S. And note that the material was 97% cotton, and 3% elastane. I think most other brands would have a similar SC at under $2k (it could also be loaded with handwork, but I didn't check).

Edit: Belvest also make RTW for Prada.

I need to seek out a Belvest stocklist
These guys stock Belvest along with Castangia and Pal Zileri. Been in the store a few times but not since the pandemic.
