Hey guys,

would like your opinion on three sets of shoes/boots. I’m going to purchase one of the three below, as they fill a gap in my shoe wardrobe. But I’m having trouble deciding to be honest. Thoughts on the esthetic?

1. TF Chelsea (look at that waist!).

2. TF monk boot:

3. Bontoni (a dark horse, but there’s something appealing about the design).

I would go for the Jodhpurs (more than a Chelsea), the Bontoni fills a different gap, that you might not be aware of.

Anyone tried Sid Mashburn loafers? Aesthetically these look like a nice, lower budget option vs an Alden LHS but there’s not much info about construction.

I had a pair in light brown leather but ended up thrifting eventually as the color didn't work for me. Made in Italy but no idea who the maker was. Quality was very nice. Good fit and solid construction. I've found Mashburn's stuff to be high quality across the board.

Sid doesn't like low-vamp loafers, so all his loafers have a higher vamp (more like an English style) than an Alden LHS.
That's a turn off for me, but your taste will vary of course.

Yeah, will have to try on to see how I like that. I was most attracted by the toe shape being round and not pointy at all.

Probably something that has been discussed to death, however a cursory search doesn’t provide the insight I’m looking for.

What are the thoughts on job interviews in 2022 in a far more casual environment. Anybody been on an in person interview post Covid? Has the dynamic shifted such that a showing up sans tie is acceptable?

Obviously the type of company one is interviewing with is a determining factor, but let’s use something which can be described as white collar, that is not a law firm.

Suit without tie? Sport coat, trousers, tie?

Thoughts?

I interviewed a guy recently who showed up without a tie. We hired him so I guess it didn’t matter ultimately but I think it’s better to err on the side of more formal- why take the risk. This is in financial services so tech or something with a less formal culture may be different. Things are changing rapidly though so maybe this seems old fashioned

For tech showing up in a tie might be detrimental if it’s a certain type of toxic engineering-driven culture. Unless it’s a place that requires ties for the workday, I’d say you’re safe with a jacket and trousers.

Just received this navy cotton canvas country coat from Anglo-Italian. Love the style and fabric.

was unsure if I should order 48 or 50. Chose 50. What do you think of the fit? Keep 50 or size down?
