I've had a couple of HB boots and shoes, and whilst they've looked nice, they really haven't stood up to regular wear and tear. Those particular Jodphurs seem to be better made than mine which were cemented...

Also, my RMW are almost crease proof, the retain their shape magnificently and look great on the foot. The HB might be a decent boot, but $280 is not a "value" for it by any stretch of the imagination.

That picture reminds me of On-line personals. Where prospective dates post their most photogenic pictures, but turn out to be total duds in real life.

Here is how it looks in reality:

I would put these R.M. Williams up aganst my garden rubber boots, but without much hope.

Dkzzzz, I do like your turn of phrase.

I've never really found R.M.Williams to be that compelling; they lack style.

Ask and ye shall receive. Not exactly these boots, but today I'm wearing, for the first time in months, some Bosses that I got on Filene's Basement's Automatic Markdown for $59. Original retail was $465 IIRC. I bought them to do some antiquing experiments, but it turns out that even after extensive stripping and conditioning, the leather is simply too ****** to take any color. They are stiff and plasticky, with deep hard creases at stress points, and very uncomfortable (note how I've had to loosen the laces on the left one after about 5 hours in the things). Now I remember why I haven't worn them more than 5 times in the year+ I've owned them.

So what you saying is: "Elegance and style don't come to you without pain and sacrifice" ?

No what I'm saying is "Hugo Boss boots are not worth $59. I made a mistake and am paying the painful price, don't grow up to be like me"
