How does that compare to a Church's F?

All these American shoes are ridiculously overpriced in Italy. I've seen cordovan Aldens retail for 800 euros +.

I've got a pair of AS scotchgrain which are nice looking, but have left me questioning their quality. They are less than a year old and the sole (leather) is already a little spongy, certainly more than any of my other pairs of shoes, and the shoe has lost its shape a little at the outer edge of foot. I did have a horrendous day of travelling in them though at 30 hours or so, and I wonder if the moisture didn't contribute to their degradation. Worth noting that I have not had similar problems with a pair of AS wholecuts, which seem to be an entirely different creature.

I also have a Cheaney for Herring brogue, and find that to be of better quality than the AS derby. It's not had a lot of wear though, so that may not prove to be the case in the long run. Ultimately, the whole point of these mid-range workhorse shoes though is that they do take the pounding that you'd prefer to keep from your better shoes, and they suffer for it.
