Lined linen suit in the winter?

I got this suit here, not realizing it was linen:

It is lined, and a dark navy color. Is it acceptable to wear in the winter? Or do I wait for summer? In which case I wish I'd picked a lighter color.

Two Points:

1. If I recall, during several visits to Madison on business, no one will
notice. That is unless the iGent population has exploded.

2. Wear a warm coat.

That's true, but if anyone asks me "why are you wearing linen in the winter", I would like to be able to give them a correct answer "it's considered ok because it's fully lined" or "I'm breaking the rules."

When ever someone questions a clothing choice of mine I tell them A. because I can, and B. because I want to. Period. **** the rules, well not all the rules. Now that being said I hope it doesn't fit like the other stuff you've displayed here.

but don't you think people you know are accustomed to your nonconformity?

"Breaking the rules" is good. However:
Who's going to ask? A snow-bound Manton or Vox on bespoke cross-country skis?
In any case, simply lie. Tell them that you are wearing Super 400s developed by
the Univeristy of Wisconsin in collaboration with undisclosed textile interests in Milan.

I agree, I want to be educated in my choice.

You'd love how it fits. Small.

Let's be fair brother, clearly no one has ever challenged you on the rules, or else you would have started your "transition" years ago.

I would not wear it. Linen just looks, and feels, "summery." Having said that, I do have a linen sportcoat I wear in the winter.

I'm wearing linen pants right now. It's a bit chilly, but the colour is sombre enough that it flies.

People just think I don't know how to iron.

I believe in another thread it was mentioned that darker linen is fine for winter, and that in fact heavier linen was once a standard fabric for year-round suits. But if it is summer weight you might be cold. Still playing that Gospel music?

Linen is a summer weight, and really, should only be worn then. It was made for warmer weather, actually for hot temperature. That being said, I would wait until the weather breaks. It's condusive to wearing a (light) cashmere sweater in the summer? Get my point?

Seeing as it's a lined suit, I doubt it will be that cold. Besides, these suits are worn while playing "that Gospel music"

I couldn't bring myself to wear linen in winter if it's cold out, especially in these parts.
