Hi I am new here and I have a beautiful Kiton Cashmere jacket that needs about 1" let out on the chest only...can it be done? and if so which tailor should I go to..I dont mind paying the bucks to get it done right as the jacket deserves it. I am in Orange County CA. Help!! Thank you for any assistance you can give. Nolaig

I cannot recommend tailors (but if you search SF for either LA Tailor or SD Tailor I'm guessing you'll find something) but I can tell you that taking it to a tailor and having them look inside the lining is about the only way you will know. Different makers build in different amounts of extra fabric at the seams - some do very little and some leave a little extra. Someone here might know if Kiton leans one way or the other as a general rule, but I don't .

This is really tricky work. Is it really only in the chest, or is it in the shoulders too? Post pics for a better opinion.

Also, isn't Nollaig spelled with 2 'l's?

Unless the coat has already been altered in the past, you should be safe. I don't think I've ever seen an OTR coat that did not have enough allowance in the seams to let it out one inch.

It would really depend on the jacket itself. I am not sure how Kiton jackets are but a tailor can tell you by looking at it. I would just drop by your local tailor and he will answer your question right away.

Is easier for you to lose an inch in the chest!

Can be done, but only by a very good tailor.
