Or just make the whole shoe using All-Purpose cement everywhere possible. Same same--neoprene.

Well we have only heard the words from the detractors. Although, I actually think detractors would be too strong a word (@patrickBOOTH aside). It is definitely a niche leather, and I am certain those ardent supporters can wax poetically about its virtues.

Well, some people walk on eggshells and some people do not perspire much and one size will not fit all. ?

So I did an experiment and I put litmus paper in my sock and wore it all day. My sweat is about 4.5 on the pH scale. Well within reason for leather health. I think the issue might just be the abundance of it that causes destruction.

Well that would make sense as Salt is more alkaline and alkaline conditions are detrimental to the health of leathers. Sweaty feet and an usually hot heavy leather is a bad combination.

salt is generally pH neutral. But sweat is generally more than just salt

if I had to pick one guy on the forum who just happened to have litmus paper on hand just in case, Patrick Booth would definitely have been my No1 choice

The man has an inherent scientific curiosity. Nothing wrong with wanting to take measurements of the acetic acid and sodium chloride levels in his shoes to extend the longevity of his prized animal skinned footwear.
