Jewelry Store double-charged my debit card and now I have an overdraft!!

So I bought my girlfriend a necklace this evening, with a promotional coupon, and when I get home I see that tha cashier rang me up twice: once before the coupon took effect and then once again after

. That put my checking account in the red

. Clearly I'm gonna go to the bank tomorrow and get it cleared up, but should I also go back to the store and raise some hell? If so, what should I demand to make me whole?

First I'd ask the bank to waive the fee. Many times they'll do so for good customers, especially if it isn't the customer's fault. If they won't, I'd ask the jeweler to pay it.

On a serious note, can I get the bank to delete the whole false debit, or just the overdraft fee? Do I have to go back to the store and get them to essentially authorize a "refund" for something I never bought? The necklace is nice and all, but I'm not keen on paying double for it.

You should be able to call the store and have them do a refund over the phone.
