Hey Folks,
I've never ordered from Jantzen before but ordered online about two weeks ago. I never received an e-mail confirming the order and e-mailed them twice to see if they received it but have nt heard back from anyone. My credit card has not been charged. Is this normal? Thanks.

My impression of Jantzen is that you can do the first part of your thread's title but should not expect the latter part

In a perverse way, that's part of the appeal imho. It's kind of a zen thing. (You know, zen in the classic Americanized, dumbed-down bastardized nothing-to-do-with-real-zen-buddhist-teachings kind of way.)

this is posted by a fella on my mod forum regarding Jantzen..he is currently working/living in HK and goes into Jantzen personally and this is what he found out for a fellow forumite who was getting antsy about his shirt order:

"Popped in to find out what's going on and the guy's up to his neck in orders, he has far too many walk in customers as more and more people hear about him, his e-mail orders are backlogged up to 500 e-mails and he can't seem to keep staff. He's not ignoreing e-mails it's more he can't cope with the volume. He needs to get his business act together, but then he's a tailor not a businessman?"

I feel as though this Jantzen thing, at least by email, is not long for this world. It wouldn't surprise me if he closed internet ordering to everyone or just to new customers.

Works both ways. I have my first order - I've had it for a month actually - and haven't yet been charged.

I've had my first order since September and have yet to be charged. I don't think he can keep doing business like this. He's going to have to raise his prices to drive off some customers.

He should hire a manager.

The thing to understand about Jantzen is that the operation is run by 2-3 people out of a storefront that is slightly smaller than a Mini-Cooper. At any given moment there is Ricky and his folk and any number of customers, visitors, packages of shirts, fabric swatches, and counter-tops. Shirts are often piled on the floor outside the store. It is not unlike the Marx brothers movie where the brothers were on a cruise ship and dozens of people seem to try to get in.

The time I met Ricky we were talking about vacations and he mentioned about really wanting to fly to Boracay, Philippines and just lay on the beach. But his work is pretty much swamped and he really can't get decent r&r.
