Are there any 36Rs out there who have measurements for any sort of designer suit or sport coat that could send me the measurements of the jacket? There is this cotton sport coat on eBay that I want: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....MEWA:IT It is tagged as a 38R, but the measurements that the seller wrote are identical to my Jil Sander suit which is a 36R (17.5 shoulders, 38" chest). I emailed the seller and asked if they might have mismeasured it (a 38 jacket SHOULD have 40 - 42" chest, right?), but he responded and said that he measured it a second time for me and they were correct. He also said that the other 38 jackets he has measure the same, and have a 38 - 39" chest. I am going crazy here. If the measurements fit, they fit, I suppose. I am curious to see if Armani, Helmut Lang etc. jackets that are 36R are the same as my Jil Sander, or if they are smaller. Thanks anyone who can help.

He's measuring incorrectly most likely. The only other possibility is that the jacket is mistagged/factory defect, which is a possibility. I'd be wary of bidding too high on this with the possibility that it won't fit.

Update: I checked his feedback, and it appears he bought this coat on eBay just recently, and the other seller reports slightly different measurements (an extra inch on the chest, and an extra 1.5 on the shoulders) which sounds more inline with 38, and is too large for me. Darnit.
