Been debating about the peacoat for a while, but seeing as I live in L.A. I'd only wear the thing maybe one or two months out the year. Don't know if it's worth it.

Also looking at the tweed and cord sportcoats. Anyone with experience please chime in.

I think I'm gonna hit up the Grove location sometime this weekend. If I see anything of note I'll be sure to chime in.

You wash your cotton-cashmere?! I wouldn't do this. Dry clean them if they need a washing. About the only time I have ever washed a sweater is if I've been stuck somewhere warm where I can't slip out of it and sweat too much.

How can mothers send their children out into the world so ill-prepared?

I would suggest looking for a different alternative to their peacoat, as I think they are a little overpriced. Especially when we have a market right here.

I love their cord sport coats, and the smalls fit me perfectly. I am 6'1" and 180lbs, so they fit me nice and slim, and aren't too short.

I do wash my cotton sweaters, and this one is 90% or 95% cotton.

of course I would not wash cashmere ones.

!! I'm not much heavier than you and I find a Large in the sportcoat pretty snug !! If I even tried to slip into a Small, I'd probably rip the back out. How do you do it?

My point is, with proper care, a sweater shouldn't have to be laundered. Neither by machine nor at the dry cleaner. If you're sweating enough to make them smell, you shouldn't be wearing them, i.e., it's too warm for a sweater.

Laundering, in general, is not good for a sweater. They lose their shape, the knit/fabric can easily be damaged, etc. It's not like a shirt.

I need more grey and blue pants. I really hope the cords and garment-dyed are on sale soon. Will hit the store tomorrow to see.

Also in need of some cardis and v-necks in other colors. I have too much navy, brown, and grey.

btw, after trying on sport coats in j. crew last weekend and liking everything about them but the price, I went to the upscale vintage store and, for 32 bucks, found a 100-percent cashmere smoke-checked sportcoat from the 1960s. In perfect condition w/ a few subtle details. The lapel is nice and narrow, and the fit is slim without feeling snug. It's not too bulky, partly due just to half-lining in the back. Shoulders have pads but you can hardly tell--like soft pads. It hangs about 1/2-1 inch longer than I'd prefer, but is otherwise perfect.

The coat is some no-name men's store label. But the more stuff I find from the 60s and earlier, the more it seems to me that even the less-known labels produced higher-quality stuff than you generally find around these days.

Hi, how do you guys compare the fabric and construction quality of the Jcrew shirts with Polo custom fit shirts? I have quite a few Jcrew shirts and like them, recently I tried on some Polo custom fit shirts and they also fit good on me. When on sale, they are actually at the same price range.
